Postponing UXinsight to Sept 14-16

Following up on our statement from Friday 6th March, we have an additional update for you regarding the status of UXinsight 2020.

The number of cases of coronavirus in the Netherlands has increased significantly within the past days, particularly in and around the Brabant area where Breda is located. Government advice has warned against large gatherings of people to prevent further spread of the virus, and it is with these changes in circumstance that we have come to the decision to postpone the conference until September 14th-16th of this year.

Of course, this has been very disappointing for all of us who have worked so hard on putting together the event, and we know it will also be disappointing to many of you who have already purchased tickets or made plans to attend. While it is a decision made with a heavy heart, it is the right thing to do for the well-being of all our attendees, speakers, and event staff.

Your ticket will remain valid for the rearranged dates, and we look forward to welcoming you later in the year!

If you are unable to attend this new date, there is the possibility to change your ticket to an online one, which will provide access to all of the talks through an online stream. Furthermore, the videos of these talks will be made available for up to a week after the event has finished.

Questions you might have

You don’t have to do anything. Your ticket will be automatically transferred to the new date of the conference. No action on your part is required.

We considered different scenarios:

Continue as planned – With the changes earlier this week, we no longer consider this a serious option: many of our speakers and attendees have to travel from abroad. Your safety is very important to us. We do not want to put anyone at risk. Also families at home should not have to worry about their loved ones.

Hybrid conference – For a long time this was our second-best option. However, we arrived at the point where more than 1/3 of the speakers would not be able to make it in person.

Online conference – A lot of the speakers and attendees we spoke to expressed a clear preference for live presence. A substantial part of the value of a conference is in the connections made during the breaks or discussions. Also people say it’s good to be away from daily routines to be able to dive deep into knowledge-sharing and inspiration.

Since we do see the added value, we will keep the live stream option.

Live stream – If you can’t make it to the conference in Breda, we offer a live stream of the talks. If you have a ticket for the conference in person and want to switch to live stream, please fill out this form

Video access for one week (* )- We will discuss the option with our speakers to keep the video’s available for one week. However, some of the talks can’t be recording due to confidentiality. We will create a list in the upcoming period.

Transfer your ticket to another person. Check the link at the bottom of your confirmation email. If you click this link, you enter your registration form, and can change the name of the ticket owner.

If none of the above works out for you, or you have a workshop ticket you can’t transfer, please contact us (before April 1st) at It might take a bit longer for us to answer your email, but we will get back to you as soon as possible..

Please check the terms and conditions of your airline and/or hotel. A lot of them have shown extra courtesy in light of this difficult situation, so please check what options they provide.

Yes, the conference venue remains the same. Check details here.

At this point in time, most of our speakers and workshop facilitators have confirmed that they are able to make it Sept 14-16! So we are happy to announce that the program will remain roughly the same.

If any changes do occur, we will update the program on the website.

First, make sure you check the terms and conditions of your airline and/or hotel. We noticed that a lot of the organisations offer extra flexibility if you switch to another date.

If not, check our options mentioned in ‘I can’t make it do the new date. What can I do?’.

Yes there certainly is!

BredaPhoto Festival is the biennial international photo festival. The 9th edition will take place from September 9th until October 25th, 2020. National and international photographers will exhibit their work outdoors and indoors. A wide range of activities will be organized during the Festival, such as lectures, portfolio reviews, workshops and meet & greet sessions.

More good news. September is often a very nice month with temperatures around 20ºC and lots of sun.
