Bill Albert is Executive Director of the User Experience Center (UXC) at Bentley University. Albert integrates qualitative and quantitative user research methods to drive great designs and innovative products to clients around the world. Albert also teaches in the UX graduate program at Bentley University and is Co-Editor in Chief of the Journal of Usability Studies. Prior to joining Bentley, he was Director of User Experience at Fidelity Investments.

He has extensively published his research in academic journals and presented his work at many national and international conferences. His latest research focuses on measuring emotional engagement. He is also actively involved in helping organizations shift their culture to be more human-centred in their product development process and integrate quantitative user research methods into their design process. He has co-written two books, including the first book on UX metrics, Measuring the User Experience: Collecting, Analyzing, and Presenting Usability Metrics.

Workshop 4 | Driving Organizational Change Through User Research

In this workshop we will explore how to maximize the value of your user research and influence strategic grassroot level changes.

We will begin the workshop by exploring the value of stakeholder support, including an exercise focused on how to develop effective stakeholder maps. Next, we will review the specific challenges in getting your user research into practice and some techniques to overcome them. This includes a practical guide to influence product decisions across various stakeholder groups using scenarios and story maps. We will then walk through how to craft a compelling business case that integrates both user and business goals into an overall UX strategy. The workshop will conclude with a discussion and exercise focused on how to effectively work with your leadership team, leveraging techniques such as storytelling, visualizations, and metrics.
