Dr Stephanie Marsh is a UX research professional, who has recently moved into ReOps full time as UX Research Operations Manager at the publisher Springer Nature, since November 2019. Stephanie was previously part of UK government UCD leadership as Head of User Research and Analysis at UK Government Digital Service and establishing UCD practices as Head of Digital Strategy for the UK Ministry of Defence. Before becoming a Civil Servant Stephanie was a user research consultant for Bunnyfoot working across multiple sectors with clients including HSBC, BBC, Great Railway Journeys, Marks and Spencer, and Marie Curie).

Stephanie’s book User Research: A Practical Guide to Designing Better Products and Services was published by Kogan Page in March 2018. The book focuses on giving people who are new to user research the tools they need to do good quality research.

Stephanie will be comparing and contrasting experiences of running at distributed, community based approach to Research Ops in a UK government department with being part of a dedicated team as UX Research Ops Manager at Springer Nature and asking what can we learn from each?

Sharing how to make it work when you need to reply on your team to not only do aspects of Research Ops as part of their day jobs but also work together to improve it. Stephanie also share what they have learnt from their first 6 months as a Research Operations Manager and some the work that Springer Nature have been doing in in this area.
